Retreats

Over the years, the opportunity to host and facilitate retreats has become an important part of our public offerings and life.

Some of these retreats are residential, ocean-and-soul-surfing-based and are hosted in collaboration with wonderful colleagues and creatives including Nature Knows and Foresthaven.

Some are mountain-based at Binna Burra on the edge of Lamington National Park in South East Queensland. These tend to be one-day gatherings that explore practices including reflection, gratitude, mindfulness, intention, writing, meditation, yoga and qi gong (a simple form of tai chi).

We keep our retreats intimate with limited numbers of people attending so that warm connections are made and everyone has the opportunity to experience the nourishment, rest, energising and blossoming they need.

We pay special attention to the food we provide at our retreats. Our meals and refreshments are vegetarian (often 100% plant-based); delicious and entirely nourishing.

Our first mountain-based retreat for 2019 is “Reflection, Gratitude, Intention” on Sunday 3 February between 8am and 4pm at Binna Burra.

We also organise, host and facilitate organisational and corporate workshops and retreats throughout the year. Our specialty is the integration of hands-on activity with professional and personal reflection and intention setting in the workshop called “Wisdom from the Water for Life”. This workshop/retreat is guided by the book “the dharma of surfing: wisdom from the water for life” and includes beach yoga and qi gong, a group surfing lesson with Surf Easy Surf School, lunch and refreshments, and an afternoon process of team, professional and personal reflection that nourishes mindfulness and compassionate communication. Author of “dharma”, Sally MacKinnon has a PhD in Adult Learning, is a qualified and experienced yoga, fitness and surf instructor, and a skilled facilitator. She collaboratively designs and facilitates these workshops with each client. For more information contact Sally.

In late 2018, in collaboration with the Oxenford-Coomera Community Youth Centre, with support from Northern Gold Coast Communities for Children and funding from the Gold Coast Lady Mayoress Foundation, we designed and began delivering a mothers and daughters program called “Growing Together”. This program will run throughout the first half of 2019 and is free for Northern Gold Coast mothers and daughters to attend. The program supports healthy relationships and compassionate communication between mothers and daughters. Activities include beach yoga, a surf lesson, exercise blast, journalling, guided meditation, reflection and group conversation. Each program has three workshops included.
